  1.  
  2.     Before you jump into the new version of Perfect Box, you must know that
  3.   the Boxdata file is in a different format than previous releases.  The
  4.   program will work with the BOXDATA4 file included here, but you must use
  5.   the 2to4.exe conversion program to use your old data file with Version 3.0
  6.  
  7. Procedure:
  8.  
  9.      1.   You may delete all previous Perfect Box files EXCEPT "BOXDATA".
  10.  
  11.      2.   Copy (and un-archive) the PERF300.ARC to your chosen directory.
  12.           i.e.  pkxarc PERF300 C:\PERFECT
  13.           will unarc into the \perfect directory using PKXARC.EXE
  14.           (Phil Katz's archiver is not included with PB.)
  15.  
  16.      3.   Copy your OLD "BOXDATA" file to this directory.
  17.  
  18.      4.   Change to your "PERFECT" subdirectory.
  19.           i.e.   c:\> cd\perfect  <Return>
  20.  
  21.      5.   Run the conversion program 2BOX4.exe .
  22.           i.e.   c:\PERFECT\>  2BOX4  <Return>
  23.  
  24.      6.   Rename your converted BOXDATA to DATAUP.DAT
  25.           i.e.   C:\perfect\>  REN boxdata dataup.dat <Return>
  26.  
  27.      7.   Run the append program ADDATA.EXE .
  28.           i.e.   C:\perfect\>  ADDATA <Return>
  29.  
  30.      8.   Run the new FAST! Boxdata sort program.  (Optional)
  31.           i.e.   C:\perfect\>  BSORT.BAT  <Return>
  32.  
  33.      9.   Edit the PERFECT.CTL file if you want Hercules(Tm) or
  34.           EGA graphics plots.  See Perfect1.doc for details.
  35.           PB is configured for CGA mode as the default.
  36.           (You can use any ASCII editor such as EDLIN.)

  38.      10.  Start PERFECT BOX with either GO.BAT or GOHERC.BAT
  39.  
  40.      11.  Create your wildest design!
